Life is concerned with our mortality. Art is a means of attempting to interpret this not only for oneself but also for others. I use landscape painting as an atavistic link back to somewhere distant – a place worth remembering. I look to birds for their enigmatic and lively presence – strangely divine in character and hopeful for the future. My paintings are a small means of trying to come to terms with all this.
